When marketing your business, one of the most important pieces is your copy. Your ad copy, website copy, fliers and brochures copy… just about anything that you use to sell your products or services requires some form of copy.

Here are some quick tips for writing successful and convincing advertising copy;
1. Refrain from saying ‘I can’ or ‘we can’. Instead tell your reader what you will do for them.
2. Don’t repeat your words. Using the same words again and again gets old and boring. Use a thesaurus.
3. Create catchy and memorable headlines and titles. Keep them fun. Give a timeless phrase or movie line a twist. People tend to remember things that make them laugh… even just a little.
4. Find out what’s important to your customers. Sometimes what’s important to the business owner is not necessarily what’s important to their clients.
5. Sub-head your content. Don’t cram too much information into one paragraph. People like to read quickly and shorter sections make them feel like they’re reading light-speed.
And of course, always remember your high school English. Good grammar and sentence fluency is extremely important. Well thought-out and put together sentences can be the difference between a phone call or not.
You want to impress your readers, but don’t sound like you’re just tootin’ your own horn. Don’t knock your competition either, most people don’t like be-grudgy people. And always remember, why will your products or services help improve your customer’s business or lifestyle?
